The just-concluded midterm U.S 2018 elections have brought some excitement into the crypto industry as the elections saw three crypto friendly lawmakers clinch governorship positions in three states while also maintaining two other states where it had control of.
The three new governors and two incumbent who won a return ticket have been ranked by the Digital Asset Trade Associations (DATA) as very crypto friendly lawmakers. These results were obtained from surveys sent to governorship aspirants by DATA who rated their blockchain friendliness based on their responses.
These new governors who have been vocal about their support for both cryptocurrency and blockchain include Jared Polis who represents the state of Colorado and Gavin Newsom of California.
Elsewhere, Mike Gordon also won his election bid in Wyoming, a state that is already proving to be blockchain friendly; while Greg Abbot won his re-election bid in Rhode Island and Texas.
Polis, the new Governor of Colorado was once a member of the Congressional Blockchain caucus in the U.S house of reps and was reported to be very vocal while calling on the United States to integrate and regulate the crypto space.
As a matter of fact, Polis has used his platform to introduce a number of initiative which he intends to promote. One of such initiatives that have enjoyed popular support from the crypto industry is improving digital voter protection using blockchain.
In a statement credited to Coin Center, the spokesperson for the advocacy group stated that the organization was very happy to see polis elected while lauding his contribution on the Cryptocurrency Tax Fairness Act.
According to Agrawal “We are excited to continue our work with him and the Colorado Blockchain Council to promote sound cryptocurrency policy in the state,”
Also, former California Lieutenant Governor and now Governor-elect Gavin Newsom has stated that he has been fascinated by cryptocurrency and blockchain technology as far back as 2014 and according to Digital Assets, the Governor-elect says he is in favor of blockchain friendly policies that will attract developers to the state.
It was also reported that Governor Abbot of Texas who won his re-election bid, accepted donations in Bitcoin.
While Rhode Island Governor Raimondo has remained under the radar, she is reportedly in support of legally recognizing cryptocurrency-related business transactions. According to commentators, the Governor is particularly in support of using blockchain platform to administer public programs like organizing Medicaid and issuing food stamps.
Known as one of the most Blockchain friendly governors, incoming Wyoming Governor Gordon has stated that he totally supports the idea of exempting cryptocurrency-related business from state money transmitter regulations.
