President of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) Chris Concannon said that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) finally eliminated barriers to the potential launch of Ethereum futures.
“SEC eliminates a stumbling block in the issue of futures for Ethereum, which we have been considering since the launch of XBT futures in December 2017,” Concannon said.
Recall that Ethereum can be a security, in April, said ex-head of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and chief financial officer of the campaign Hillary Clinton, Gary Gensler.
After a two-month public discussion, William Hinman, head of the Division of Corporation Finance at the SEC, said that neither bitcoin nor Ethereum is a security.
Back in December, Chris Concannon stressed that CBOE is considering the possibility of adding futures for Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum.
